The beauty of this Cooper Lighting recessed kit is that you no longer have to guess which housing belongs with which trim--the can and trim come packaged together. This combined packaging greatly simplifies the often confusing process of selecting recessed lighting.
The P600TW kit combines 9-3/8-inch square white trim and 9-inch square albalite glass lens with low profile housing. The light is thermally protected and listed for damp locations making it ideal for use in a variety of applications in new construction, remodels, or suspended ceilings. The low profile housing makes this an excellent choice for 2-inch by 6-inch joist construction common in older housing, or for installations with minimal available space. The albalite lens provides diffused, area-filling lighting rather than a single, intense spot of light. A combination of several light kits can be used to provide calm and relaxing illumination of an entire room.
Proper installation of the light requires that insulation be kept three inches from the housing. To install with bar hangers, be sure to purchase 24-inch bar hangers P98 (sold separately). Light uses 75-watt A19 bulb (not included). UL regulated for safety.--Bree Norlander

Bonus: this can be installed in a bathroom because of the washer and glass it comes with. This can be installed without instructions if you have installed any recessed lights before - so don't waste your time trying to decipher the ones that came in the box. Cut the hole where you want it (8.5" x 8.5"). This is a Remodel kit as it comes in the box. Another benefit is it also can be put in the bathroom because the cover is glass with a washer to keep moisture out. It "could" be used for a new install, but you would need to buy the metal brace bars separately. PLUS this is a NON-IC light so I would not use it for a new install at all even with the braces, unless you absolutely know you won't add installation in same area, or... The lens which comes with them are a heavy opaque glass and really cuts down on the illumination but I cured that by taking a 2'x4' diffuser for a fluorescent fixture and cutting out four new one. With some creativity, we were able to install it without cutting additional holes in the ceiling. It looks great and I'm so glad we ordered this replacement. My only negative comment about this product is the "instructions" (and I use that term loosely, in this case). The documentation was confusing, incomplete, and utterly useless. It's clear that the manufacturer assumed only electricians (who would not look at the documentation) would buy this product. Thank goodness my husband is an engineer, or we would have had to call a contractor just to replace a light fixture. |
